Perfect Pancakes

1 ½ cups flour
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 ¼ cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Butter, for the griddle

In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  Pour in the milk, egg and melted butter.  Whisk until smooth.  Heat a lightly buttered griddle or pan over medium high heat.  Pour approximately ¼ cup of batter on griddle for each pancake, brown on both sides and serve with your favorite toppings, such as hazelnut spread and fresh cut strawberries.
